Your drafts, email, memos, photos of notes and years of chat history in one private index. Ask in plain language, get the passage and the page it came from. Silent, sits beside the desk, works with the network cable out. This is BrainBox.
Offline, vision first.
The box runs its own hotspot. Your phone joins it, sends a photo and a question, and gets an answer. No internet at any point. Built for clinics, farms, ships, disaster response and remote schools. In development; ask about a pilot.
Any stack.
We install BrainBox on a Mac. Where a bigger model or a different workflow fits better, we install Perplexity Portable Computer on a DGX Spark instead. Either way you get a written note saying which one and why. Note: since September 2026 the Perplexity Mac app runs some steps on local models for sensitive files (hybrid compute). That is an account-based agent with local steps. BrainBox is an archive that stays on the box with no account. If you want the first, we say so.
What every install includes.
Runs on the box and lists every process and every outbound connection. Alerts your phone if the list changes.
Each question, the pages retrieved, the model and the time, on the box, for you. Open it, export it, or delete it.
One command to back up to a drive you own, one to restore. We run both at handover while you watch.
Email or phone, screen-share when needed, you at the keyboard.

Work on the model after the install, measured the same way each time.
A small open model trained on your own material, on your box. We've taken an open model from 60% to 90% on a client's domain documents.
We write a benchmark from your questions, run it before, change one thing, run it after. You see both numbers.
When a better open model ships, we test it on your benchmark and swap it in if it wins.
A question set and a scoring rule that fit your work, so "better" means something you can check.
Limits.
This is a reference assistant, not a clinician or a lawyer. Answers cite what the model saw, so you can check them. When the material doesn't contain the answer, it says so.
